I know what you're thinking. This post isn't about books! I've decided to expand The Book Babe's horizons and will now chat about music every now and then. Music is another passion of mine. I have no musical talent, just like art it's something that I greatly appreciate and enjoy for the mere fact that I have no talent for it. I listen to music nearly all day long. I would die without Spotify and gladly pay the $10 a month for it. As much as I use it- maybe 6 hours a day if not more, I should probably be paying double that. I love my music and I love discovering new music and Spotify is a service that allows me to do that. I play music while cleaning, changing diapers, surfing the net, going to sleep, working, blogging, exercising, driving and...

On that note (no pun intended harharhar), I am unapologetically obsessed with Lana Del Rey. I worship the ground she walks on. Not only is she one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen in my life, but she's also mad talented. I spent at least an hour today on Pinterest just pinning pictures of her. She just oozes this incredible sultriness. Her voice has that gorgeous raspiness to it. I love how she's a most intriguing combination of sugar and spice. Her lyrics are gritty, sexy, vulgar, catchy, lovely, fun, and dark. Take these lyrics from her song Gods and Monsters from her Paradise album.

As a good Christian girl, I should be offended by the use of such language. Right? Wrong. So very very wrong. Let's go to Confession for a moment. The more nasty, raunchy, vulgar, dirty, and even dare I say... twisted that something is the more drawn to it I find I am. Don't get me wrong, I love sweet things. I love The Bible, The Book of Mormon, Jesus, Church is one of my favorite places. I'm just saying on the way to church I may listen to My Neck, My Back by Thug Misses, Khia. Maybe that will lose me some church friends or respect, maybe that makes me a hypocrite but, I am what I am. 

To put it bluntly.

So, back to my girl Lana. If God said, "Amanda, I grant thee one wish. I will make thee look like anyone you want." I'd be like, "K, so morph me into The Coney Island Queen".
